Tire Service Overview

Do you feel overwhelmed by the ins and outs of tire service, and buying tires? You’re not alone. There are any number of tires that work better than others do for different vehicles and different purposes, and the price points are all different, too. However, there are a few basics that anyone at all who is on the road should know about tires.

First of all, you should know the type of tire you need. What is your driving style? Are you a “Point A to Point B” driver? In other words, the type of person who just wants to get to work and then back home? Do you love to go on road trips? Do you ever want to hit the backcountry where you will be off-roading? What about tread? If you log a lot of highway miles and you live in a cold climate, you may need something that offers significant grip. However, you could live in the same area, but just doing a commute from the suburbs to your office in town, in which case all-seasons might serve you very well on properly maintained streets.

By the same token, you need to consider the type of vehicle you are driving. For instance, a half ton truck is going to need very different tires than, say, a sports car or an SUV. Keep in mind that your vehicle left the factory with the type of tires that were considered to be best for it. Sometimes, it works well to maintain the status quo – stick with what the manufacturer recommends, but make sure to get tire service from a qualified mechanic from time to time.

What tire service means is basically ensuring that your tires are inflated to the proper level, and having them checked to be sure that there is no excessive wear that could compromise your safety.

When you see us at Escondido German Auto for tire service, you can rest assured that we are not going to try to sell you new tires – unless you need them. Our primary concern is your safety. When you come to us for tire service, we will check the level of air in your tires, examine them for wear, and offer suggestions as to the right type of tire for your vehicle. We want to keep you safe while you’re on the road.
